Here's to a new Bible

The Literary Study Bible that I ordered got here today. It's going to be sweet. I have just thumbed through if for a few minutes, but I can promise you that if you are into reading and dissecting the themes, motifs, archetypes, genres, characters and story lines of a great book, then you would love The Literary Study Bible. I think it's going to be a great resource for my teaching, and I think it will help me think about God's Word in ways I never did before.

Here's some more info if you're interested: http://www.esvliterarystudybible.org/
But I wouldn't buy it there. Amazon.com has it for quite a bit less.

Here's to a new little Christmas script

I shall from time to time post some of my original scripts here at http://scribblingscripts.blogspot.com/.
I make absolutely no claims to be a great creative writer. But I do enjoy writing little drama scripts. And I hope you enjoy reading them.
The newest entry is a little reimagining of Mary and Joseph coming into Bethlehem. A link to the above blog of scripts can also be found on the left under Sites to see. Click on Some scripts I wrote. Check it out every once in a while. I welcome any kind of feedback.

Here's to a semi-mobile Meribeth

Here's to a displaced farm girl

My wife grew up on a farm in southern Michigan, and she is the quintessential country girl. My daughter is growing up in the opposite of environments—a decent sized city in North Carolina. And she is fast becoming a city girl. But pictures like this one with her Grandpa make me remember that she’s got more than just a little of her momma in her.

Here's to new beginnings

I am starting a new blog.

I am basically doing this so family and friends from afar can keep up with me and my wife and children. I have tried xanga, virb, facebook, and myspace. They weren’t for me. So I am returning to blogger. I’m getting back to my internet roots and this time I am going to have something worthwhile to contribute to this passing fad we call the worldwide web. So this first post is a toast to new beginnings.
